How to Self Refer

About Us

We all go through low points at times in our lives and it is not unusual to experience symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression.

Merton Uplift is an integrated Primary Care Mental Health service accessible to anyone living in the borough of Merton or registered with a Merton GP who are 18 years and over. We support anyone who has a mental health or wellbeing need, whether this is due to emotional difficulties or life stressors. We also offer a service for people with a stable mental health diagnosis such as psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorder.

Merton Uplift is a partnership between the NHS and local voluntary sector organisations and launched on the 1st April 2019.

With values based on empowerment and building resilience within the community we tailor support to the individual.

Wellbeing is core to our service with Wellbeing Navigators working in collaboration with all elements within Merton Uplift.

We can support your mental health and wellbeing needs through a number of ways including:

  • Self management courses
  • Psychological therapies
  • Psychiatric assessments
  • Recovery and Wellbeing support

Liaison with other Trust services:

There will be seamless liaison with, and transfer of service user care to secondary care mental health services run by the Trust from Merton Uplift if clinical risk requires this.  This pathway will be managed through daily interface meetings between Merton Uplift and the Merton Assessment Team.

If you think we can be of help and are interested in finding out more about or service please call us or complete the referral form on this site. You do not need to be referred by your GP or any other professional. Just get in touch with us and we can talk through whether our service is for you. We aim to support people with Wellbeing in many ways so no problem is considered to be too small.

We aim to make our service as accessible as we can and offer some evening and Saturday morning sessions.

Online one-to-one CBT provided by Ieso Digital Health

Ieso Digital Health provides free, one-to-one therapy on behalf of the NHS in Merton for people with common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety. Qualified therapists deliver live cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) online through typed conversation in a secure virtual therapy room.

Online CBT follows the same format as traditional face-to-face therapy and is proven to be just as effective. You can access the sessions from anywhere you feel most comfortable and at a time to fit around your schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Access to the service is very quick; you can typically have your first appointment within two weeks of being referred. Online CBT is exactly the same as face-to-face CBT, other than that the conversation is typed. Appointments are 30 or 60 minutes long and can be attended from anywhere you can connect to the internet, including from the comfort of your own home.

Your therapist will work closely with you to help you understand how your thoughts and beliefs affect your feelings and behaviours and teach you new coping skills to handle different problems or situations.

Upcoming Courses

Benefits of Our Courses

  • Our courses and workshops aim to teach you strategies and techniques that can help you feel less anxious or low, and that can support you in coping with difficult feelings.
  • Sessions are at least 1 hour long, giving you an increased therapy experience and more time with your therapist compared to individual guided self-help sessions.
  • You have a chance to learn from others who attend the course, as well as have the benefits of mutual support, encouragement and exchange of ideas.
  • Courses help us to acknowledge how common some difficulties are and help us to realise that there may be someone else who feels just as we do.
  • Past attendees have described the course as “supportive” and most people who attend our courses report that they feel better at the end of the course than they did at the start.

Feeling anxious about attending the first course session is extremely common! We will do our best to help you to feel comfortable, and most people report that they have found the course helpful, despite their initial concerns and anxieties. However, if you try the course and feel uncomfortable at any point please try and speak to your course facilitator who will do their best to help.
