Benefits of Our Courses
- Our courses and workshops aim to teach you strategies and techniques that can help you feel less anxious or low, and that can support you in coping with difficult feelings.
- Sessions are at least 1 hour long, giving you an increased therapy experience and more time with your therapist compared to individual guided self-help sessions.
- You have a chance to learn from others who attend the course, as well as have the benefits of mutual support, encouragement and exchange of ideas.
- Courses help us to acknowledge how common some difficulties are and help us to realise that there may be someone else who feels just as we do.
- Past attendees have described the course as “supportive” and most people who attend our courses report that they feel better at the end of the course than they did at the start.
Feeling anxious about attending the first course session is extremely common! We will do our best to help you to feel comfortable, and most people report that they have found the course helpful, despite their initial concerns and anxieties. However, if you try the course and feel uncomfortable at any point please try and speak to your course facilitator who will do their best to help.

Self Confidence Workshops
We also offer one-day CBT workshops for individuals experiencing low self-confidence or low self-esteem.
These whole-day workshops are mostly run on Saturdays. During the workshops, CBT is used to help participants to understand and make changes to unhelpful patterns in thinking and behaviour. The workshops are interactive throughout and they are presented by staff in an upbeat and positive manner. The day consists of a series of 20 minute presentations, followed by practical exercises and discussion.
Each workshop programme comprises of a two-hour introductory session (prior to the workshop), the full-day workshop (typically held on a Saturday), and a two-hour follow-up session (at a later date).
All sessions are held at community locations throughout the borough of Sutton (e.g., local library or church). The effectiveness of the one-day workshops has been evaluated by a research team at the Maudsley Hospital in London who have shown them to be effective in improving low self-confidence.
